Our Mission

At the Institute for Urban Farming Innovation (IUFI), our mission is to revolutionize the way cities approach sustainable food production. We strive to empower communities by promoting innovative urban farming practices, fostering environmental stewardship, and encouraging self-sufficiency. IUFI is dedicated to engaging people of all ages, especially teens, to embrace the exciting world of urban agriculture and become the innovators of tomorrow.

Our vision is a world where urban spaces are productive green havens that offer both environmental and social benefits. Our History

Founded in 2019 by Dr. Emily Carter, the Institute for Urban Farming Innovation was born out of a need to address the growing disconnect between urban communities and sustainable food production. Dr. Carter recognized that as cities expanded, the opportunity for local, fresh, and sustainable food diminished. By transforming underutilized urban spaces into productive agricultural hubs, IUFI aims to reconnect people with their food sources.

A key element of IUFI’s journey has been engaging teenagers through workshops, educational programs, and internships. By inspiring young minds to think creatively about urban farming, the institute empowers the next generation to tackle environmental challenges with innovative solutions. IUFI believes that by sparking an early interest in urban agriculture, teens can lead the way in creating greener, more resilient cities.

Today, IUFI partners with schools, local governments, and businesses to promote urban farming innovation across the country. Our work continues to inspire communities to cultivate change, one garden at a time.
